Riyaz for the 2024
New Year Beginning

Riyaz_2024

SMMA students were blessed to begin the 2024 New Year with the Riyaz session under the guidance of Vidushi. Mohini Joshi.

During early morning 7:00 AM on 1 January 2024, SMMA students headed for the Riyaz session. While we slowly and steadily tuned the tanpura, we could feel the vibrations of the swaras. Invariably, we got immersed in the tuned tanpura and began the Riyaz by singing the lower notes. We ensured to open up the vocal cords with ‘Aakar’, ‘Omkar’ and ‘Humkaar’. We then moved deeper in with the combination of mandra and madhya saptak. In a matter of time, we were completely immersed in the morning Raaga Bhairav. We tried gamak in every swara. As we went deep, Vidushi. Mohini Joshi wanted her students to be perfect in every note. Later, we sang the Raag Bhariav Bandish ‘Jago Mohan Pyaarey’ and concluded the Riyaz session.

We truly thank our Guru Vidushi. Mohini Joshi for the New Year mesmerizing morning and blessing us with the Riyaz session, which we would continue through out the year.

Vasant Panchami
Celebration 2024 at SMMA

The 2024 Vasant Panchami celebration at Swar Mohini Music Academy was a harmonious blend of devotion, music, and artistic expression. Let us immerse ourselves in the vibrant tapestry of this auspicious day.

  • Saraswati Puja by Mohini Joshi: As the sun painted the sky with hues of gold, the academy’s assembly hall buzzed with anticipation. Vidushi Mohini Joshi, the revered music teacher and custodian of tradition, stepped forward to perform the Saraswati Puja. With grace and reverence, she adorned the idol of Goddess Saraswati with fresh flowers, incense, and vermilion. The air hummed with sacred chants, invoking wisdom and creativity.
  • Seeking Blessings: Following the puja, students queued up, their hearts brimming with hope. Each one touched the feet of the goddess, seeking her blessings for their musical journey. The notes they played, the lyrics they sang—all were offerings to the divine muse. Guidance and Melodies: Under Vidushi Mohini Joshi’s watchful eye, the students dedicated Saraswati bhajans.

On this Vasant Panchami, let us remember that knowledge is not static; it flows like a river, nourishing minds and hearts. May the blessings of Goddess Saraswati continue to inspire these young souls, and may their music resonate through eternity.
Jai Saraswati!
